The Cooking Oils We Use at FaBene: Olive, Avocado and Sunflower

A clear explanation of the oils used at FaBene
Customers often ask which cooking oils we use. The honest answer is that the choice depends on the recipe, cooking method and flavor we want to achieve.
FaBene uses clearly identified oils rather than generic “vegetable oil” blends. The complete ingredient list on each package is always the best source for the specific product.
Extra virgin olive oil
Extra virgin olive oil is the primary oil in many FaBene recipes, including sauces, pesto and selected cooked dishes. We choose it for its flavor and its central role in Mediterranean and Italian cooking.
Extra virgin olive oil is not identical across every producer or harvest, so origin, storage and freshness matter. We select oils according to the needs of each recipe rather than treating price or country of origin as the only measure of quality.
Avocado oil
We use avocado oil in selected preparations that benefit from a neutral flavor and higher-heat cooking, including our Gluten-Free Chicken Parmesan recipe. When avocado oil appears in a product, it is listed in the ingredients.
Cold-pressed sunflower oil
Selected recipes may use organic cold-pressed or expeller-pressed sunflower oil. Sunflower oil is botanically a seed oil, so it would be inaccurate to claim that every FaBene product is completely “seed-oil-free” when this ingredient is used.
We distinguish a specifically identified sunflower oil from an unspecified blend labeled only as “vegetable oil.” This is a sourcing and formulation choice, not a claim that all seed oils are inherently harmful.
Why we avoid blanket health claims
Nutrition evidence does not support treating every seed oil as identical or automatically inflammatory. The American Heart Association recognizes unsaturated fats, including omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids, as essential dietary fats and recommends considering the overall dietary pattern rather than judging an ingredient by an internet label alone. Read the American Heart Association overview of dietary fats.
FaBene chooses oils based on ingredient quality, transparency, culinary function and flavor. We do not describe an oil as a treatment or guarantee that one ingredient will prevent inflammation or disease.

The FaBene approach
Our goal is simple: use recognizable ingredients, explain them clearly and choose the right oil for the recipe. Transparency is more useful than broad claims, especially when products and cooking methods differ.
